Asbury Park Sheehan Classic

The Shore Athletic Club presents the
Asbury Park George Sheehan Classic 5K
Saturday, August 10, 2024
Flat, fast USATF certified course finishing on the famous Asbury Park Boardwalk
7:50 AM Opening Ceremony at Bradley Park
REGISTRATION
$36 if you register by February 10th
$40 if you register by May 8th
$45 if you register by July 31st (if space permits)*
$50 to register on August 1 – 9th (if space permits)*
$60 to register on race day, August 10th
*- Field will be capped at 1,600 runners this year. Shirts for the first 1,100. Register early to avoid getting closed out.
KIDS RACES
$12 if you register by February 10th
$16 if you register by July 31st
$20 to register on August 1 – 10th
SUGGESTED DISTANCES FOR KIDS’ RACES
** Kids can run more or less than suggested
2-4 years old: 50 meters
5-7 years old: 100 meters
8-10 years old: 200 meters
11+ years old: 400 meters
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Friday 4-7 PM – Late Registration (if available) & Bib/T-Shirt Pick-up at RoadRunner Sports, Shrewsbury
Saturday 6:30 AM – Late Registration (if available) and race day bib pick-up opens at Bradley Park
7:50 AM – Opening Ceremony at Bradley Park (runners will be escorted to Bradley Park for the start)
8:00 AM – 5K Run begins
9:00 AM – Kids races begin
9:15 AM – Awards ceremony – Bradley Park
AWARDS
Top 5 Overall Open Male and Female Win CASH Prizes (and the prize money has been increased this year)!
Age group awards: 5 year age groups – Top 3 in each age group win custom Sheehan Classic beach towels and other awards
Over $1200 in prize money for the top finishers (men and women): 1st Place – $200; 2nd – $150; 3rd – $125; 4th – $80; 5th – $60.
Individual Age Group Awards – custom Sheehan Classic awards to the top 3 in each age group.
(we will use 5-year age groups)
Team Competition! We will have a special award for the Winning Team in each category
(we will score the top 4 fastest times in each category. Co-ed teams must have a minimum of 2 females.)
The top male and female Asbury Park resident each win gift certificates to local businesses
Raffle at the awards ceremony compliments of our local sponsors.
Awards will be presented in Bradley Park after the youth races.
FRIDAY BIB PICK UP
Road Runner Sports in Shrewsbury, N.J.
4:00 – 7:00 PM
VIPs earn double rewards points; anyone who joins VIP gets $10 off their purchase.
There will also be a free shoe raffle and other giveaways for those who join us on Friday!
We strongly encourage you to join us on Friday if at all possible to avoid the line on race morning.
RACE TEES
Soft cotton tie-dye Asbury Park Sheehan Classic shirts to participants, first 1,100 to pick up their bib/shirt!
The first 1,000 people to pick up their bibs on Friday and Saturday will also get a drink ticket for The Robinson Ale House
Charity Partner: A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County again this year.
You may also make an additional donation to the Boys and Girls Club as part of your race registration. Thank you!
