2025-2026 Preschool & Private School Guide - The Monmouth Moms

At The Goddard School of Hazlet, we understand that choosing a preschool is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent. That’s why our school is built around the things that matter most to moms: a safe, nurturing environment where your child is truly known, cared for, and encouraged to grow. Serving children from six weeks to six years old, we provide a place where learning feels like play, and every child is celebrated for who they are.

Our approach to early childhood education combines joyful, hands-on learning with trusted research and age-appropriate curriculum. Our caring, experienced teachers work closely with families to create personalized learning experiences that support each child’s development—from early language and math skills to social confidence and emotional growth. You’ll get daily updates, photos, and peace of mind knowing your child is engaged, supported, and having fun every step of the way.

Moms love our warm community, open communication, and the confidence they feel knowing their child is thriving in a safe, state-of-the-art facility. With enrichment programs, beautiful classrooms, secure playgrounds, and a team that treats your child like family, The Goddard School of Hazlet is more than just a preschool—it’s a place where children feel loved, and where parents feel confident they’ve made the right choice.

For over 50 years the little red school house on West Front St. in Lincroft has welcomed thousands of children through its doors, and many of them now, as adults, are sending their own children to ACP to give them the same gift of a joyful childhood experience. Children from 2.5 to 7 years of age (in addition to a weekly toddler program) thrive under the care of teachers who have spent over 25 years at ACP, together with younger staff who bring fresh ideas and creativity. A leafy campus on nearly four acres and a mission to spend at least 50% of every day outside, provides the perfect balance and environment for discovery, play, creativity and learning. ACP has built a wealth of meaningful traditions, parent events
and community building since 1974 and even has a strong group of alumni dating back to the early days of the 1970s.

At A Child’s Place School we believe that Children are Born Curious®. We view every child as already possessing the ability to explore, discover and learn as well as being competent and capable of forming their own theories about the world around them. For this reason no two years are the same at ACP, as the interests and needs of every child in the class change and require a response. When children have a seat at the curriculum table they are given the chance to pursue ideas that excite and motivate them. Our job is to harness that motivation to help them learn how to think rather than what to think. We believe that all people do their best work when they are valued and seen within a community that welcomes them for who they are. That being said, we do very much believe that each day should have a predictable structure with designated blocks of time for various curriculum themes. Our program recognizes the importance of collaboration and cooperation as we work with every child to develop their social-emotional skills including leadership, communication, empathy and engagement.

Today’s modern child is at risk of viewing the world and adults as having a responsibility to entertain them. Children at ACP, however, are inspired and empowered to explore, problem solve and experience the joy of learning, building character and the ability to find fulfillment in their own pursuits. Programs at A Child’s Place include: the Half Day Nursery Class for 2 ½ to 4 year olds; the All Day Nursery Class for 3 & 4 year olds; and the full day Primary Class for 5 to 7 year olds. On either side of all of these programs is the option to use extended care from 8AM to 4PM. A weekly parent and toddler class (16 months to 2 ½ years old) is also offered during the year. Enrollment for September 2026 begins
with tours starting in November–visit the website to book your tour!

Ranney’s expert and caring Early Childhood (age 3 to Pre-Kindergarten) faculty guide their youngest learners to form foundational skills leveraging Reggio Emilia, a developmental theory that encourages learning through exploration and creation. Our teachers are specialists in Early Childhood Education and our classrooms intentionally support the learning process. The classroom starts in September with a blank canvas and evolves through the year as children take responsibility and demonstrate new knowledge. As a result, each classroom becomes a unique reflection of a particular class of students. Class spaces are in a constant state of growth and change; change that can be impacted by students’ own contributions.

Early Childhood classes are created in a way that allows students to receive nurturing, individualized attention. Students have the opportunity to visit the Searle Library, the Lower School music studio, world language classrooms, art, and the community garden. Specialized classes such as science and health are integrated within the homeroom setting. Early childhood students have the opportunity to build relationships with multiple “specials” teachers as they progress through their Lower School experience. Athletic facilities extend beyond the gymnasium and field spaces to include an indoor heated pool and outdoor play structures designed with a variety of age-appropriate physical challenges.

Ranney’s nurturing learning environment encourages children to build confidence, discover their talents, and love learning in Early Childhood, which extends into Lower School (Kindergarten through fifth grade), Middle School (sixth through eighth grade), and Upper School (9th through 12th grade.)
