Meet-a-Mom: Gina Salerno, Founder of The Household Handy Mom!
We’re so excited to introduce our latest Meet-a-Mom, Gina Salerno! A Marlboro native now living in Brick, Gina is a proud mom to her four-year-old son, a passionate entrepreneur, and the founder of The Household Handy Mom — a fast-growing local business helping moms and small businesses stay organized and stress-free.
After spending 14 years as an executive assistant, Gina found herself at a crossroads last summer when she was laid off. Rather than return to a demanding office schedule, she channeled her talents into creating a flexible business that would allow her to be present for her son while still helping others. What started as a side hustle quickly blossomed into a thriving company — now a fully insured team of six moms making a difference across Monmouth County!
In our interview, Gina shared her deep gratitude for her husband, who she credits as a true partner through parenthood and beyond. She also opened up about her love of yoga (yes, she’s certified!), her favorite family outings to the beach, and her goal of creating meaningful, flexible work opportunities for other stay-at-home moms.
When she’s not working or spending time with her son, you might find Gina enjoying her favorite local spots like La Mondina or Taka — or simply soaking up the sun at the Jersey Shore.
We loved getting to know Gina and hearing her inspiring story!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Before starting The Household Handy Mom, I spent 14 years as an executive assistant because helping others stay organized has always been second nature to me. Last summer, I was laid off and started applying for jobs that all required me to be back in the office in person 40 hours a week. I have such an incredible relationship with my son, and being able to be there for everything in his life as it happens right now has been so important to me and wasn’t something I wanted to give up. So my business actually began as a side hustle to help other moms while I applied to jobs and tried to find one with the flexible schedule I was looking for. The business really took off and I’m proud to share that we are now a fully insured team of 6 moms who help not just other moms, but also small businesses! I have had the same clients since I started and the gratification I feel from helping moms feel less stressed every week is so fulfilling and brings me a lot of joy.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
We’re a small local business so I do all marketing myself and have targeted local mom groups on social media.
What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?
La Mondina and Taka!
What is your favorite activity to do with your son in Monmouth County?
The beach!
What are your Mom Goals?
My ultimate goal is to not just help moms like myself (and others) but also provide a flexible employment opportunity for stay at home moms who are looking for work but also don’t want to miss out on special moments with their kids.
