We asked Dr. Boyar!
What sparked your interest in a medical career?
Initially, my interest in neonatology was sparked by the complexity of neonatal conditions, the challenge of procedures and the possibility of truly making a difference in someone’s future. In the last decade we have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible with new technologies and better understanding of pathophysiology, innovative research and approaches to care. The field is always evolving, which keeps the spark fresh. Additionally, I love working in a team and collaborating not only with my colleagues, but also with patient’s families.
What is the #1 tip you always share with patient families?
The biggest piece of advice that I can give to the parents is to take care of themselves. Having a child in the NICU can be very stressful with many unknowns, so it is crucial that parents take care of themselves as best as possible during these times.
What is unique about your philosophy of care?
Having a team is extremely important when it comes to providing the best quality and advanced care for your child in our NICU. You are a part of that team. We will be there to support your baby and you along this journey and we hope you will partner with us to achieve a common goal, safe discharge home.
What do you love most about New Jersey?
Beautiful nature and proximity to family.
