SPRING SKIN TIPS with Radiant by MD

Spring is a time of renewal. After months of alternating between hot, dry indoor air and the harsh cold outside, your skin is definitely ready for a shift in seasonal skincare. Get your skin prepped and ready for Spring and upcoming Spring events! Use our 6 steps to RADIANT springtime skin to wake your skin from its winter hibernation, and get your healthy glow on.

EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

To start your journey to RADIANT skin, begin by exfoliating away the remnants of winter. Despite the constant regeneration of skin cells, a long season of cold, windy weather can really dry out your skin. Reveal a fresh glowing complexion by sloughing off all that dead winter skin. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub to clear away dull, dead surface skin cells. Our favorite exfoliator is ZO’s Exfoliating Polish! Don’t
stop at your face! Soak in a warm bath to soften dead skin cells and then give yourself a much needed full-body exfoliation using a strong but gentle scrub!

HYDRATE YOURSELF AND YOUR SKIN

During the wintertime, our bodies soak up less moisture, so it is important to increase your water consumption as well moving into spring. Hydrating from the inside out not only combats dryness but also enhances the look, feel and quality of your skin. Try increasing your water consumption by aiming to drink eight 8-ounce glasses daily, incorporating water-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet, and being
mindful of high-sodium foods. Fresh fruits and veggies are abundant in essential vitamins and minerals that promote healthy skin, while their high water content is also hydrating!

WEAR SPF, EVEN ON CLOUDY DAYS

Sunscreen is not just for those days at the beach. Even on cloudy days, harmful UV rays can reach and harm your skin. We recommend applying sunscreen to protect your skin no matter what time of the year it is. It is crucial to apply and reapply a good sunscreen, with an SPF of at least 30. Opt for a lightweight product that won’t clog pores, like Alastin’s SilkSheild All Mineral Sunscreen.

TREAT YOURSELF TO A FACIAL

Spring is a great time to treat your skin to a rejuvenating facial from Radiant by MD. Depending on the unique needs and conditions of your skin, we recommend a Glo2Facial by Geneo or one of our custom facial treatments with one of our aestheticians. Don’t stop your skin treatments just because of the sun! Continue your skin care by incorporating regular facial treatments to hydrate and slough off dead skin.

SWITCH TO A LIGHTER MOISTURIZER

During winter, even heavy moisturizers might not suffice for dry skin. With warmer, more humid weather approaching, opt for a lighter formula to avoid over oily skin. In your spring skincare regimen, incorporate a lighter moisturizer to maintain skin health and hydration without feeling heavy and oily. We love Alastin’s Ultra Light Moisturizer that is an ultralight, breathable lotion. It is non-greasy, fast-absorbing and leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized.

SPRING CLEANING… CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES AND SPONGES

While spring cleaning your cupboards and closets, remember to address your cosmetic and skincare products too. Makeup brushes and sponges can accumulate a significant amount of unseen grime and bacteria, transferring germs to your face with each use. Gently clean your brushes with a natural cleanser and allow them to air dry flat for 24 hours. Additionally, don’t forget to clean your loofah, facial scrub brushes, pillow cases and check for expired topical creams and gels in the medicine cabinet while you’re
tidying up!
