Monmouth County Park System Free Winter Activities
Winter is a beautiful time to bundle up and get out to explore your Monmouth County parks! Head to their website and mark your calendars for free events coming up this winter. Some events include:

Winter Beach Walk
The winter is actually one of the best times of year to find shells along the shore. Bundle up and bring some pails down on the sand. You can find a full list of local beaches here!

Visit Historic Longstreet Farm
Visit the animals and tour the grounds, where the sights, sounds, and smells of rural Monmouth County in the 1890s have been re-created on 9 acres at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel Park, Holmdel. Interpreters in period dress show both daily and seasonal agricultural and domestic activities. Walk over to the playground after you’ve spent some time on the farm!

Check out Bell Works
Monmouth County’s own “metro-burb,” an indoor space that spans the length of more than three footballs fields, is the perfect spot to bring the family and explore. You can take the kids for a long walk, visit the Holmdel Library, and check out the stores and lunch spots such as Bell Market. It’s definitely a great place to break up the day and get out of the house!

Spend the day exploring the reptile house and environmental center at Huber Woods Park. Explore the grounds and have some family fun!

Visit the Twin Lights Museum and Lighthouse
Twin Lights Museum and Lighthouse, located in Highlands, NJ, offers a view from the highest landmass on the Atlantic coast between Maine and South America. With not one, but two lighthouse towers to climb, connected by the museum and museum store, a weekend visit is sure to bring some family fun!

Take a Hike!
Need to get some fresh air and work off those Christmas cookies? It’s cold out, but the Monmouth County Park System is still beautiful this time of year! There’s SO many parks to take a small hike, go for a walk/run, or do some outdoor activities with the kids. One of our favorite places to go for a long walk is Manasquan Reservoir, it’s incredibly scenic, and there’s a five mile trail along the perimeter of the reservoir. Make sure you take pictures, it’s really something! Check out a list of local parks to hike in below!
