Meet Kathleen Caruso, a local mom, and the owner of Monmouth Speech Therapy! Read more in our interview below about Kathleen’s life here in Monmouth County, including where she likes to spend time with her family, why being a busy mom herself led to offering convenient speech therapy services for parents, and how our community has played an important role in building her practice.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am originally from Brooklyn, NY. My husband and I moved to Hazlet in 2006. As our family grew, we moved to Colts Neck where we have been living since 2011.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have two sons, Vincenzo who is 14 years old (soon to be 15) and a Freshman in high school and Nicholas who is 12 years old and in the 7th grade.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I played the piano for almost 20 years and performed in recitals until I was in College. I still play the piano to this day- although I am a little rusty!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
There are many people I have to thank for helping me through parenthood. First and foremost, my husband, Enzo, who has been my biggest supporter and keeps me grounded in all of the chaos of parenthood! He is dedicated, kind and will do anything for his family. Our boys are learning from the absolute best and I can see so much of him in them and am so grateful for that.
To my boys, who have taught me about unconditional love. It is such a joy watching them grow into kind hearted young men and they make me so proud every day.
To my parents, in-laws and sister, who are always there to help with picking up and dropping off the kids all over Monmouth County! Whether it’s from school, to soccer, to tennis, to doctor’s appointments, they are always there and willing to help. I couldn’t do it without them!
Favorite things to do with your kids?
We enjoy having movie nights and playing mini golf!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I recently opened Monmouth Speech Therapy back in March 2023 with a mission to provide exceptional services to families and to empower children with the ability to communicate confidently. As a busy mom myself, I understand the importance of flexibility which is why services are provided in the child’s home. I am able to build a relationship with parents and ensure that they are given practical strategies to help support their child’s language skills in a comfortable environment.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
This community has played an important role in helping to build my practice from word of mouth referrals to support from other small business women and local Speech Pathologists. I hope to continue to build these relationships throughout Monmouth County and am excited to continue to grow the Monmouth Speech Therapy community!
What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?
My favorite restaurant in Monmouth County is B2 Bistro in Red Bank.
What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?
Our favorite thing to do in Monmouth County is going for walks at Thompson Park with our dogs, Luna and Cocoa. We also love walking by the beach too!
What are your Mom Goals?
My Mom Goals are to raise my boys to be kind, nurturing men and to have a strong sense of self- worth. I always strive to create a supportive environment where they can grow emotionally and intellectually. I want them to grow up knowing that, no matter what happens, they can always come to me with any obstacle they may face without judgment or criticism.
