Meet-a-Mom Monday: Meet Dr. Kristine Keane! | The Monmouth Moms
Meet Dr. Kristine Keane! A Monmouth County mom, Dr. Keane is the owner of Shore Neuropsychology & Behavior Health in Red Bank and Brick, NJ. Read more in our interview below with Dr. Keane where she discusses her passion for brain and mental health, how she’s been a trailblazer for moms seeking work-life balance employed at her practice, and some of her favorite things to do in Monmouth County with her family!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I was raised in Forked River and graduated from Lacey High School. I spent a few years living in New Brunswick when I attended Rutgers University for my undergraduate studies. I moved out of state to pursue my graduate work, however returned in 2001 to complete my postdoc in New Jersey. My husband and I eventually settled in Manasquan to raise our family, and we truly love where we live.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

I have three children- Christian, 21 years old, Cameryn, 18 years old and Sebastian, 13 years old.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

People are usually surprised to hear that I play the drums.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Of course, my husband. I am also so grateful for the friends I’ve had since my children were babies, and for all the moms and families I have met through my work, my children’s schools, and on their sports teams. I have been blessed with a wonderful community of people who have made an incredibly positive and lasting impact on my kids.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

Since my two oldest children have begun college, our family has enjoyed quite a bit of traveling. We love to go to Notre Dame football games and travel along the east coast to watch our daughter play soccer. When we are all in the same place, we love to be at the beach, ski, and snowboard.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the
corporate world? Please share!

I am a Neuropsychologist and Concussion Specialist who has a passion for brain health and a strong belief in our ability to direct our own lives. I am the CEO and founder of Shore Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health, a multi-disciplinary group practice that specializes
in neuroscience, assessment, and mental health counseling for adults, children, teens, and families. I founded my practice when my two oldest children were toddlers, in order to create a work schedule that afforded me the ability to be there for my family as needed. I knew it would “take a village” to raise a family, and that in order to be successful, this adage would apply to my work community as well. Back when I was coming up in the field, many professional women didn’t have the resources that are available now. My goal in founding Shore Neuropsychology was to create a practice that enabled working moms (and dads) to have the autonomy and flexibility they needed to create their own unique work life balance. It has always been my dream to also create a workplace that enables working moms to be able to advance both personally and professionally, while still having a lot of fun doing it! I believe that this balance is how and why we are so successful in treating and caring for the families in our community.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

There are countless members of the Monmouth County community that I have met through my work with Hackensack Meridian Health as one of the Clinical Directors of the Neuroscience Concussion Program. The community of physicians, clinicians, and administrators at Ocean University, Jersey Shore, and Riverview Medical Center have been incredibly supportive of our practice and continue to provide us with multiple resources and opportunities to treat, teach and promote wellness within our community. They are a great network of professionals I have tremendous love and respect for.

What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?

My favorite restaurant in Monmouth County is without a doubt La Mondina in Brielle.

What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?

Our favorite thing to do in Monmouth County is go to the beach. We love to enjoy long lazy days at the beach in Spring Lake whenever we can.

What are your Mom Goals?

To raise kids who are happy, kind, and resilient; who value themselves; and understand the
importance of giving back.
