Talya specializes in working with children, adolescents and young adults as well as parenting consultations. When she’s not busy working, Talya enjoys spending time with her family and exploring local beaches and parks. Learn more in our interview below with this beautiful mama about her life here in Monmouth County, including her favorite restaurant spots, where she likes to bring the kids, and some of her impressive goals a mother!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I was born and raised in Central New Jersey. After high school, I moved out of state to pursue my undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2014, I returned to New Jersey to pursue my career and be closer to family. My husband and I bought our family home in Atlantic Highlands in 2018 and we’ve been here ever since!

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

We welcomed both of our little girls during the pandemic; Kaia is going to be two this summer and her baby sister Layla just arrived in February.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I have a great love for interior design.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

I definitely lean into my circle of “mom friends” whenever I need guidance or a good laugh. I feel so grateful to be surrounded by so many like-minded, strong willed, hardworking mamas!

Favorite things to do with your kids?

If we’re not having dance parties in the kitchen while eating pancakes, you will probably catch us playing at the beach or a local park.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I’ve worked in the mental health field for 10 years. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor and am proud to offer mental health services to the Monmouth County community, as well as the rest of the state of New Jersey! After having my second daughter and wanting to work closer to home, I took a leap of faith and opened my own therapeutic private practice. I am the founder of Pura Vida Wellness, a fully virtual mental health therapy practice providing individualized services to support adults, adolescents, children, and families. In addition to therapy, I also offer consultations for parents that need guidance in navigating the many obstacles their children may face.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

This community has helped me feel more secure as a working mom and has helped me develop a sense of setting down roots in Monmouth County. I love knowing that there are so many local small businesses to support that are owned and operated solely by other hard working, hustling mamas like myself!

What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?

There are so many delicious places, but my top two have to be Anjelica’s in Sea Bright and Birravino in Red Bank. Can you tell I love my carbs?

What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?

We love going to the beach in Sea Bright or taking a stroll through downtown Red Bank.

What are your Mom Goals?

I want to be present for all the events in my girls’ lives — big and small — and be a positive role model for them as a well-rounded, ambitious, working mom. Starting my own private therapy practice has allowed me to do that while simultaneously striving toward my goal of helping to support local parents and families within our community. My hope in creating my own practice was to have an increased sense of flexibility and freedom in balancing motherhood and my career.
