As with so many things that fall by the wayside as a mom, keeping up with routine exams is definitely one of them. I’ve worn the same prescription glasses over the last four years, and have noticed more headaches recently, along with strained eyes at the end of the day. Spending as much time as I do in front of a screen at work has definitely taken a toll on my eyes. It also dawned on me somehow four years have gone by and I haven’t had a visit to the eye doctor.
I decided to finally schedule an appointment at Precision Eye Care of NJ in Red Bank, NJ with Dr. Livia Derdova to find out what was happening with my eyesight.
Upon my arrival, I was greeted by their warm and welcoming staff. The interior of the office is brand new, clean, and inviting. AND only waited a few minutes before I was greeted by Dr. Derdova (there’s nothing worse than waiting a half hour for an appointment!).
Dr. Derdova sat down with me and asked more about my medical history and my previous eye care. She was patient, listened attentively, and explained why she was asking certain questions.
She went on to do some testing, and determined I needed a stronger prescription lens for my left eye. She also recommended blue light protection, considering the amount of time I spend on my laptop and phone.
Dr. Derdova was incredibly informative and caring, which was refreshing, as this isn’t always the case when you visit the doctor. She’s quite passionate about our community, and treating her patients with the ultimate care.
I went on to meet with a staff member to pick out some new glasses, who was incredibly patient as I mulled over 30 different pairs! Once I narrowed it down to one, she fitted me quickly and had me on my way.
Before I left, I was able to connect with Dr. Derdova a bit more, and discuss next steps. She also encouraged me to bring my kids in, explaining that children often aren’t given proper eye exams at school, and benefit from routine eye exams just as much as adults. Who knew?!
I’m looking forward to keeping up with my exams each year with Dr. Derdova, and can’t wait until my new glasses come in!
