Meet Jennifer Borenius! Mom to four boys, Jennifer lives in Little Silver, NJ, with her beautiful family. Originally from Hillsborough, NJ, this gorgeous mama moved to Monmouth County in 2005. Learn more in our interview below about Jennifer’s passion for community and wellness, her local business, Soul Shine Studios (one of her many entrepreneurial endeavors), and some of her favorite things to do in Monmouth County with her boys!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Born and raised Jersey girl. I was born in Plainfield but lived virtually all of my youth in Hillsborough, which is roughly forty minutes due west of Monmouth County. When I decided to raise a family, New Jersey was the only option. My first house we purchased was in 1997 in Chatham to be close to work in NYC, but we moved here in 2005 to Little Silver to have proximity to both NYC and beach.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I am the mother to four boys. My oldest, Jack is 21 and finishing his junior year at University of Rhode Island. My senior Christian Brothers Academy high school student is 18, and Shane will be attending University of Florida this fall. Kyle, 15, is a freshman at The Academy of Allied Health + Science! Nathan (Nate) is 11 and is a sixth grader in Markham Place Schools in Little Silver!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I am unafraid to look (some would say) silly, in a concentrated effort to bring attention to my awareness and mission! From showing up at the State Senate as a plastic bag monster, to Being Water in head to toe blue jumpsuit – to jumping around during the pandemic on my dance parties, I want to inspire people to get involved! Be FEARLESS! Find something that you enjoy and care about and find a way to make an impact!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
Champagne, Savignon Blanc and Tequilla. Oh, you meant people! Of course, my parents are the first obvious answer for obvious reasons. They gave me the solid foundation and support, I needed to raise my own boys. I am also extremely fortunate that I have so many friends that shared in the incredible experience and often challenge of raising our kids. Friends from high school, college, and locally gave me an incredible patchwork woven support system, that enabled me to get diverse and varied assistance!
Favorite things to do with your kids?
I loved coaching all of my boys in recreation and travel sports. I also love going hiking, skiing and going to the beach – and now being an active spectator at all of their higher level sporting events.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am extremely involved in my commUNITY. I currently enjoy a few entrepreneurial endeavors. My daily project is SoulShine Studios, my start up business providing health and wellness in various programs while I also serve as the Director of Wellness at the Wave Resort and Bungalow Hotels. Additionally, I am in development of two apps. One is in wellness, (name not made public yet) and the other BoomerangBoard is in building a community. From volunteer perspective, I also am on the Executive Team for WEforum, a non-profit organization that serves the undeserved community with education and resources to increase overall health and wellness programs. I also started a grassroots program called We Are SURE, Single Use Reduction Effort to create awareness on overall environmental sustainability through introduction of small tasks, like refusing single use plastics, like bags and bottles.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
CommUNITY to me is EVERYTHING. Out of a nurturing, supportive environment is where all good things grow to their greatest potential. SoulShine Studios is founded in line with this and the belief that we are all connected, and by sharing our authentic light (our best version) we can radiate positivity to our family, friends, community…. and the world!
What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?
Unfair. There are too many. 100 Ocean, 1 Willow, Albarino, Beach Tavern, Tommy’s + Copper Canyon. Just to name a few of my TOPS!
What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?
Going on the boat to do anything except fishing (sorry John) crabbing, tying up, wake boarding!

Enjoy raising amazing young men who utilize all of their God given potential to live their lives to the best with love and gratitude while making a positive impact in the world.
