Meet-a-Mom Monday: Meet Amelia Caverly! | The Monmouth Moms

Meet Amelia! This awesome mama grew up in Freehold, NJ, and later settled with her family in Asbury Park. Mom to two beautiful daughters, Amelia and her husband own and operate Booskerdoo Coffee Co., one of our favorite local coffee shops with multiple Monmouth County locations. Learn more below about Amelia’s life here with her family, including some of her favorite local restaurants and fun things they like to do with the kids!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I’m originally from Freehold, but I’ve lived in the Asbury Park area for 10 years now.

Children and Ages?

Claire, 8 and Caroline, 4

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I used to be a Latin teacher!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

I’m lucky enough to live half a mile from my mom and stepdad, two houses down from my brother and sister-in-law, and a couple towns away from my aunt.  Although my in-laws live in Maryland, they still play an important role in how I parent my girls.  All of these people have played such an important role in the way I mother, and have helped me achieve what I have with Booskerdoo.  Without their support, lessons and love, I would be totally lost.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

I love to do arts and crafts with the girls. Claire just got a sewing machine for her birthday and we’re both learning how to use it now.  Caroline just started staying in the lines of her coloring book and she loves when we do that together. I also love reading with them because they’re natural bibliophiles. Of course, snuggling is number one on the list!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

Right now being the co-owner of Booskerdoo and a mom to two is all I can handle!

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

When we started in Monmouth Beach, we were overwhelmed by their sense of community and pride the residents have in their local businesses. The same followed with Fair Haven and Asbury Park, Bell Works (Holmdel) and finally Red Bank. The people in these towns love where they live (understandably!) and we’re lucky enough to have become welcomed into the fold of these communities. As we set our sights on expansion, we are focused on finding more places like these so that we can really become a part of the culture of the towns where we are in business.

What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?

How about three? Brandl, Taka and Bonney Read.

What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?

During the winter girls love going to Climb Zone in Howell, and we also love taking the dog to the beach.  During the summer we’re a big beach family and also love going to Shark River Park, the Manasquan Reservoir and Hartshorne.

What are your Mom Goals?

I’m hoping to raise happy kids who achieve success in the way they define it.
