Brittani Groves & Courtni Penta are Monmouth County sisters, moms, and business partners! Having grown up in Holmdel, NJ, they both decided to stay in our community and raise their families nearby! This rockstar duo is taking the gardening industry by storm, making indoor sets that are farmhouse chic and easy to maintain. Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
BG: We are from Holmdel, NJ but now I live in Atlantic Highlands, NJ
CP: I currently live in Middletown, NJ
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
BG: Scarlett, 3 yr & Harrison, 1 yr
CP: Lilliana, 2.5 yr & Leo, 8 months
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
BG: I love to travel and try new restaurants, and have lists and itineraries for everything we do and places we go! I was an event planner for 13 years so I think it’s habit LOL.
CP: I’m obsessed with essential oils and make wellness rollers for everything along with my own home products!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
BG: My husband is super dad, he helps out a lot around the house, cooking, entertaining the kids, building them forts & playhouses, and playing dress up! He’s always challenging me, which has made me a better Mom Boss.
CP: My husband for being my rock to lean on and for emotionally supporting me through the ups and downs parenthood brings.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
BG: We love to listen to music and play outside. They love to help me garden, even if sometimes it’s just blowing bubbles at me while I garden.. LOL
CP: We love to picnic in the park and even in the backyard!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
BG: My sister and I started Rising Up Gardens to bring outdoor gardening to all kitchens. We created the GIY concept, garden it yourself, so families could enjoy the therapeutic and educational benefits of gardening without having to buy and store all the product. Our gardens are a great introduction for new gardeners, and especially fun for the kids to get their hands dirty!
CP: They are the perfect home project for families to teach their children about healthy eating, the lifecycle of growing food, and sustainable living.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
BG: The community has been amazing for helping us build this business! The love, encouragement, and support from all the local moms and dads have kept us going. It’s been challenging starting a business during quarantine with no babysitters and 2 kids each, under 3 years old!
CP: Friends and family have been extremely supportive along with the partnership of a friend and her local business Carla at Oak Hill Farms, local moms supporting each other is what keeps us all going!
What is your favorite restaurant in Monmouth County?
BG: Anjelica’s Restaurant in Sea Bright
CP: Cuzin’s Seafood Clam Bar in Marlboro
What is your favorite activity to do with your children in Monmouth County?
BG: Going for a cycle on the Henry Hudson bike trail along the water, which connects AH to Highlands. There is a small beach where we stop and find shells.
CP: Long Branch Pier Village to walk the boardwalk and go on the carousal
What are your Mom Goals?
BG: To build a successful business that the kids can be involved with, while still managing the house, the kids activities, and finding time to workout (a bit of me-time). We are super planners, so I know we can do it!
CP: LOL. SAME! Except I don’t really work-out… but my therapy is cleaning the house.
